Sony Walkman goes Wireless!

Sony announced its new fall line-up of MP3 players, including two with wireless Bluetooth streaming.

The Walkman A860 and S760 are the first Sony units with Bluetooth-enabled streaming from the unit to wireless headphones, speaker docks and car audio units. Both play video as well as audio and can wirelessly share photos from the player to mobile phones.

The A860 is Sony's top-of-the-line model, identified by its 2.8-inch LCD touchscreen and up to 64GB of storage. The S760 has a 2-inch display with either 8GB or 16GB of storage. Sony also introduced an entry-level player, the E460 with the same sized display as the S760, but without Bluetooth connectivity. The E460 is available with 4GB and 8GB of storage.

All three new MP3 players come with MediaGo software for drag-and-drop transfer of music, videos and photos from Windows Explorer or iTunes. The software includes SensMe that automatically categorizes your music tracks into different channels. It also has a karaoke mode and a language learning mode.

Sony included compatible Bluetooth headphones in the fall collection that can be charged from a PC or from the Walkman. Headphones will run four hours on a single charge, according to Sony.



To round out the line, Sony unveiled a new version of its all-in-one sports MP3 player. The is 25 percent lighter than its predecessor and water resistant, wire-free and hand washable. A three minute charge provides 60 minutes of play time, while a full charge powers eight hours of music.
